I am interested in buying the lightest possible mens walking or casual shoes by skechers, diesel, or steve madden. I’m talking about the low-profile shoes that “everybody” is wearing nowadays that resemble bowling shoes, typically are darker colors, blacks, browns, and blues. Thanks.

Does anyone have any ideas for our situation? Our 100 year old house has a back entrance that’s a small hallway with no wall space for anything. It drives me nuts as there are about 12 pairs of shoes laying there that we trip over, but are worn the most often so we like to have them handy. I put up some little hooks for the shoes to be hung on, but it ended up being more of a hindrance. I hung up a shoe rack in the basement, but it’s really inconvenient to get down there (it’s not by the back door) to get shoes either. We do have a small back porch, but it’s not enclosed. I keep a bin out there for our recyclables and keep thinking it would be nice to have something out there to put our shoes in. But we live in MN so the shoes would practically freeze out there on some nights. Some day we’d like to change the back porch to be enclosed for jackets and shoes and whatnot, but that’s just not an option at this point. Anyone have a suggestion of what to do?
OK, you didn’t mention if you didn’t have wall space because the hall is narrow or if it’s because there is already something occupying the wall space.
If you have a narrow hall with bare walls what you could do is put up a single row of wall shelves just above head level and over the door(s) (I did this in my kitchen for my cookbooks). Mount the shelves high enough so the tallest person in the family can walk through without striking his or her head and just keep a small folding stepstool nearby so the shorter people can get their shoes.
Another idea, and I don’t know if this is feasible, if your wall is thick enough, you could have a recessed cabinet in which you could put the shoes and have doors to close it off that are flush with the wall. It would probably have to be a minimum of about 6 inches deep to put shoes in sideways
Worse comes to worse you could just take your shoes off when you come in and carry them up to your rooms to put away and carry them back down to put on before you go out.
If you were to store the shoes outside as you suggest, you’d have to have some kind of insulated container or wrap them up in some sort of thermal protection so the expended exposure to cold doesn’t crack the leather (if they’re leather).
